TO MY POPPY GEORGE:

I thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new,
I thought about you yesterday
And the days before that too.
I think of you in silence
I often speak your name,
All I have are memories now
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake
With which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping
I have you in my HEART

ETERNALLY,

Debbie (Barker) Hester

DAD,
So many times I've come here wanting to leave you a message Pop, but turned away in tears not knowing how to put the feelings into words. Today will be different. I need to feel you here. I need to connect. So far from the family and your final resting place that sometimes coming here to "visit" makes me feel just a little closer to you, and a little bit less sad. I need that today. Some days are just so tough.
I thought that I had it all figured out Pop. That it wouldn't hurt me so much when I lost you because I was the one who kept everything so far away-the feelings, the distance, the differences, and sometimes in the past-even my love for you. I'm so sorry for that Dad, I was so selfish and so completely wrong. I miss you more than words here will ever say. I love you more than I ever showed or ever said out loud. I need to keep you close now by visiting a damn guestbook. Yup Pop, I was so utterly and completely wrong, this hurts like hell. All is forgiven and I need to tell you once again, despite everything...
I LOVE YOU DAD.
I ALWAYS HAVE AND I ALWAYS WILL.
Love Debbie

I know the circumstances were bad, but I am very glad I had the opportunity to travel home to say Goodbye to Poppy, and to spend time with all my family - it was wonderful to see you all. One thing that has helped me through this time is knowing that now Poppy can be with all of us, spread out over the country. It brings me great joy and pride knowing that he is here in Oregon with Larry and I, helping us to raise Logan to be a good man like he was.

My sympathy to the whole Barker Family. I remember Mr. and Mrs. Barker dropping off Carol at college in Delhi and how warm and friendly they were. Mr. Barker always had a big smile on his face and open arms for a hug. May his many wonderful memoires comfort his family in their time of sorrow.

I am a friend of Carol's from many years ago. I remember going to various functions and parties at Carol's home and I always looked forward to seeing her Dad George. He reminded me so much of my own Dad, whose name also happened to be George. Each time I'd see him again there was always a warm greeting, a big smile and even a hug. My thoughts are with all of you at this time.

I miss talking to you Pop. I wanted to say thank you to my brothers, Paul & Steve, and my sister Debbie for all the strength you've each given me. You are all beautiful reflections of Dad in your own way. We will miss him dearly, he taught us to love dearly, and I love you all! To Mom - thank you for being the best friend dad could ever have! Hugs & Kisses.
