Walter E. Dodd
of Conklin
Walter E. Dodd, 81, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at Our Lady of Lourdes after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bethel Dodd; his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Patty Dodd; daughter and son-in-law, Jalynn and Greg Poletto; grandchildren, Amy and Jeff Paske, Charlene Dodd, Gregory and Sarah Dodd, Jamilynn Poletto, Stephen Poletto; great-grandchildren, Alex Dodd and Amelia Paske. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Decker, Betty Romano, Grace Cable; and brother-in-law, Ken Cable. Walter graduated from Vestal High School in 1943. He was a veteran of the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for bravery. He was employed at IBM, Endicott for 31 years, drove the late sports bus at Susquehanna Valley School District for 24 years, and worked at Agway for 14 years.
The family will receive friends at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main Street, Johnson City from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2007. Walter's family would like to express sincere thanks to the physicians, nurses, and aides at Lourdes Hospital who cared for him, especially those on Ross 1. We will never forget your kindness. "Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord."

I was A long time Friend of Walt.
Also his brother Ben, when we all worked at "Sears" on Court Street, many years ago. It is with sadness that I hear of his passing. My Condolonces to his family. May he rest in Peace.

To The Dodd Family: I am so sorry to hear of Walts passing. I had the honor of working with him at Agway for a few years. Walt always made me smile, we had great times together. Always ready to listen or stir up some fun trouble. I will never forget him. May God watch over you all and help you all through this time. He was a great person. You were all are very blessed to have him in your family.
