Betty M. Thetga Parks
of Windham, Pa.
Betty M. Thetga Parks, 87, (RR2, Rome, Pa.) passed away peacefully on December 1, 2007 with her family at her side. Born on January 18, 1920 in Windham, a daughter of Edward and Fannie Waterman. For many years Betty assisted her husband, Glenn in the operation of the family dairy farm until his passing in 1985. Betty was a member of the Nichols Presbyterian Church, a 65 year plus member of the Rebekah's where she served as Past Noble Grand. In addition she was a member of the Windham Ladies Aid, Ladies Auxiliary and Nichols Senior Citizens. Betty enjoyed crafts, visiting with friends, was a talented cook and collecting cardinals. On June 3, 1989 she married Daryl Parks of Athens. Together they spent many happy years in their 5th wheel camper traveling throughout New York and Pennsylvania, especially with the Tom Jack Indians Camping Club. They also enjoyed wintering at campgrounds in Florida where they made many friends from all over the country. Betty is survived by her husband, Daryl of 18 years; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Joanne Thetga, Nichols, Glen William and Trisha Thetga; stepchildren, Carolyn (Dewey) Russell, Rome, Judy (Dick) Tobbe, James (Debbie) Parks, Donald, Sandy (Walt) Robinson, Penny (Roy) Peterman; sisters-in-law, Arlene Mills, and Ethel Waterman; her lifelong friends, Betty and Mabel; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her first husband, Glenn Thetga; and a daughter-in-law, Rae Parks.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Betty's life on Thursday, December 6, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols, with her Pastor Rev. Linda Breffle officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Wednesday evening, December 5th, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Those who wish may consider a memorial contribution to the Nichols Presbyterian Church, PO Box 146, Nichols, N.Y. 13812, in loving memory of Betty Thetga Parks.
