Fred Vroman Obituary

Fred R. Vroman
of Afton, N.Y.
Fred Robert Vroman passed from the loving arms of his family into the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior, Tuesday evening, December 4, 2007, at his home on Chase Rd., Afton, New York. Fred was born on November 27, 1918 in Deposit, New York, to Henry A. and Florence Vroman Sr. He attended and graduated from Afton Central School in 1936. Fred is a WWII Veteran of the Army, serving in the Pacific. Upon his return from service, he met and married Lucille B. More on November 24, 1946 at her home on Longhill Rd., Afton, New York. They enjoyed fifty-two years of marriage before they were parted at her death on August 20, 1999. Fred worked as a supervisor on DOT for the State of New York until his retirement in 1975. After his retirement, he and Lucille worked on a tree farm in Oxford, New York, and enjoyed traveling with each other. They were members of RVICS for 5 years. Fred is predeceased by his parents, Henry A. and Florence Vroman; his wife, Lucille Vroman; and his three brothers and sister. He is survived by two sisters-in-law; his daughter, Marge (Chester) Cutting, Chase Rd., Afton; his two sons, Fred (Elizabeth Cutting) Vroman, Chase Rd., Tim (Deborah Cumings), Cty. Rd. 27, Bainbridge; 13 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Sidney, New York. You may call on the family 1-3 p.m. before the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Afton Baptist Church Missions Fund.
