Frances Humiston Obituary

Frances Irene Humiston Beloved mother and grandmother, Frances, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, December 8th, 2007. For the first time in 103 years, she isn't here to brighten someone's day. Frances was so much; a daughter, sister, aunt, wife and mother. She was also a grandmother and great-grandmother, and especially a great friend to so many. She had a long and healthy life that spanned so many of the events of the 20th century. She is predeceased by her three siblings, Imogene, Carl and Kenneth Squires; her loving daughter, Lois Campbell; and her dear husband, Leon Humiston; also by her son-in-law, George Campbell, as well as by many nieces, nephews and friends. She is survived by her grandchildren and their families, Kathleen, Mark, Ryan and Trevan Vincenec; Robert, Karyn, Kevin and Daniel Campbell; Douglas, Angela, Kristina, Sonja, Anna and Luther Campbell; and Stephen Campbell. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, including Irene Madden; many great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-grandchildren, and many friends. Frances was an avid gardener, cook and baker, and a great neighbor. She dearly regretted the loss of her daughter, Lois, who died too young, and for whom she cared so deeply. She was a member of the Conklin Ave. Baptist Church for 66 years, since 1941. Frances was a very gracious and generous woman; a warm and caring person who was deeply loved by all her family and friends. Thanks to her most regular visitors these recent years, including Marge, Barbara, Irene and John, Gail, Betty, Anne, and her dear granddaughter, Kathy. Thanks also to the caring and friendly staff at Hilltop (West 1) and Johnston Nursing Home.
The family will schedule a memorial service at a later date.

My wife Jean daugter Sandy and I are so sorry for your loss. On the several occasions I had the pleasure of meeting "Aunt Francis" I loved to hear her tell stories of her growing up with Kenny and Imogene (my grand mother) and their antics as children; She gave me glimpses into my Grand Mothers life that I have always cherished. I am certain that it was quite a reunion in heaven.

I will always remember Aunt Frances in my years growing up in New Milford, PA. I am the grand daughter of Ken Squires. I remember walking from my grand parents house to her house in New Milford and picking apples along the way. She will be dearly missed. She was a wonderful person.

Frances was very much a lady and one of the nicest people I had the opportunity to visit with during the past 50+ years. She was a great inspiration to me and a wonderful lady.
