Uncle Truman, was my fsvorite uncle. When came down to Mahanoy City to see my mom, dad, sisters and my grandmother myrtle he always asked me did I want to go to the bar with him to get a hot bologna and to do some shots. Which I would just laugh because I was to little to go to the bar. So he would then come to my moms house after being at the bar and we would eat a hot bologna together. Another time that was funny when he was down at my grandmother house and he got up from the couch and he was talking about something and he didn't watch where he was going because he was talking, but I guess he was trying to go into my gram's bathroom well here he banged into the wall and his glasses went side ways on his face I laughed so hard I almost peeded in my pants. I am really upset that uncle truman has died, I'll never forget the memories I had with him. He was a wonderful man, I wish I would of had more time to spend with him. I love you uncle truman and I will miss you always. Love, Chrystal

Uncle Truman, was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. We will always remember the time we spent with him and, Aunt Thurly, in NH, playing horseshoes, cleaning the pond, playing cards, and sharing stories, in front of his fireplace, where he built a fire for Ahlana, because she caught a chill,(in July 1993).As with many others he touched our lives,(every time), in a very positive way. He and Aunt Thurly, will remain in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers, always:)

Dad instilled in me a great love of the outdoors which has been my lifelong passion. My earliest memories are of playing around in a trout stream while he was up or down the stream catching some trout for dinner. Usually, the whole family was along and it was a Sunday afternoon. Mom with play pen and picnic lunch and blankets. It was still a few years before it was just dad and I out on a trout fishing outing by ourselves, when I could actually catch the fish myself and not just throw rocks in the stream.

I was 10 when he started taking me along hunting. Again, not old enough to participate, but I could walk in the woods and learn about squirrel and rabbit hunting. And then when I turned 14, armed with a single shot shotgun and small game license, we were a team, taking to the woods every weekend all winter long. His beagle named "Bunny" would bark so sweetly as she trailed along behind the rabbits. Even now, my life doesn't seem complete without a rabbit hound to wander the winter wood with.

Firewood cutting, shooting the bow and arrow, gardening, tobaggoning, ice fishing, and all things to be done outside, Dad taught me about and we shared in. He and Mom bought me my first snowshoes and crosscountry skiis. All the things to help enjoy our beautiful New York winters.

The past couple years Dad couldn't get out to hunt or fish. That bothered him. Unstable footing and the cold would really get to him. But he would share in the outings by being along and visiting with us. Even if he had to remain in the house on the opening day of deer season, he could listen on the portable radio and hear and share in our adventures. And then reminisce by telling stories of hunting and fishing trips past.

Dad will remain with us on all future outdoor adventures. His favorite hunting and fishing stories will be retold every year, and I am sure he will be listening in.

Truman was a dear caring friend since I first met him when subbing for him for art in 1980. I loved his sense of humor and when he found out that my family was from Maine, that cinched it! I spent wonderful times with both Truman and Thurley in NY and NH and always loved their impromptu visits to me in Maine!

Uncle Truman was one of the kindest people I knew. And he was so funny! I remember funny little things like him washing my hair in the pond in NH one summer. He was always waiting to see my reaction to one of his jokes and how he always called me his "own personal Jacklyn Smith" because he always said I looked like her.......i always said something like "not likely" or you are going blind".....and then we would laugh. He was the best and I will miss him for the rest of my life. He was so much like my Grandfather who always had a punchline for everything. I loved him.

To the Litwhiler Family,

Although we're miles apart, the thoughts and memories of Truman are always in our hearts and minds. I'll never forget the day that Tru took my daughter fishing up at his pond in the POURING rain (back in the 80's), bringing home the largest catfish I'd ever seen! My daughter could not have been happier.

Thanks Truman..... You'll be missed by all.
