James Cureton Obituary

CURETON, JAMES FURMAN, 84, of Peace Dale, RI passed quietly on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at the Veterans Home in Bristol, RI. Jim was the husband of the late Jane (Grant) Cureton.

Jim was born on Jauary 21, 1924 in Greenville, SC. He was a 30 year decorated veteran of the US Navy, an aircraft mechanic at Quonset Point and was a Rhode Island Mental Health Worker for many years. He was also an avid gardener and loved his Boston Terriers.

Jim is survived by his son Douglas Cureton of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughters Mary Cureton of South Kingstown and Jane McLellan of North Kingstown. He leaves eight Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchldren. He was the father of the late James Michael Cureton and the late William Edward Cureton.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday June 23rd at 10:00am in the Forbes Funeral Home, 28 Columbia St. Wakefield, RI. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery in North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the RI Veterans Home Activities Department, 480 Metacom Ave., Bristol, RI 02809.

Uncle Doug, Aunt Jane and Mom...
I am so sorry about the loss of your father. He was a wonderful grandfather and an amazeing great- grandfather. May the three of you find some comfort in knowing how his long wait to be with gram is finaly over. I Love you all. With deepest sympathy&imense love~
