Mrs. Rebelo was an amazing women. I was so saddened when I heard of her passing. I had her for Chorus at South Kingstown High School. She was such a passionate singer and so full of life. She wanted everyone to love music as much as she did and was so patient with all of us. She caught me smoking once, and told me my voice was too good to smoke, and that i should give it up now. She was right. I know that she made a very big impact on my life, as I am now doing very well and singing everyday as a musical theatre actress here in NYC.
Thank you Mrs. Rebelo.
You will be missed.
With LOVE,
Heidi Beckmann

To the Rebelo Family,

It's been over 30 years since I moved from Cumberland to go to college in Boston, and it had been almost as long since I'd seen Dianne. As I moved around the country, I always thought of her and what good times we had when I visited her and helped her out in the family store. We also shared an interest in singing and music, and since she was several years ahead of me in school, she "primed" me for what could be expected of Mrs. Lennox and the vocal music program at CHS. She was my unofficial mentor in that regard, so it's no surprise that she ended up as a music teacher who was clearly loved by so many.

I remember a lot of small things which all add up to a great fondness for someone who was a constant presence in my teenage years. I remember Silver Top, of course, and swimming in Dianne's pool and hanging out with her brother and sister-in-law who lived above the store. I also remember Dianne's generosity, her tremendous talent and her kindness.

Even after all this time and all the distance, I can never forget someone who was so special to me. My heartfelt condolences to the entire Rebelo family.

Sincerely,

Erin Foley Mocharnuk

I admittedly drove Ms. Rebelo nuts through my years at South Kingstown High. She still put up with my antics, was a wonderful person, and an amazing teacher. She was competely dedicated and passionate about her work. I only wish that she could have continued her tenure teaching so that others could have had the same experiences I had. I'm am sorry for your loss and she will be sorely missed.

She will be greatly missed!!!! She touched so many lives and gave us all fond memories. From our Peace Dale Elementary production of The Nutcracker to those crazy High School music trips to Florida and just practicing in the Music room. Her passion and love of music and life will always be remembered.

As my former teacher, Dianne inspired in me a lifetime appreciation and participation in vocal music that I never would have discovered without her. Dianne was a wonderful person and an engaging teacher, who gave herself to her students and shared her passion with us- and we are truly the better for it. Dianne will be missed, but I am proud to know that her legacy will continue to live on in each of her former students whose lives have been forever enriched by her generosity. With my sincerest condolences,

Christina

We were so sorry to hear of Dianne's passing. She was a wonderful person, an inspiration to her students and great fun! We spent many "Music Trips" as her chaperones and will never forget the times spent together at Disney. We shared many great memories of concerts and those fund raisers - the "Wreath Sales" and "Bow Parties". She has touched many, many lives and will be missed!

I am very saddened to hear of Dianne's death. She was a great colleague and well respected choir director, I always enjoyed seeing her at NEMFA each March. We shared a lengthy breakfast at NEMFA shortly after her diagnosis, she was still very upbeat and as always much laughter. I will miss her very much.

Mrs Rebelo was my very first music teacher. I am so grateful to her for making playing an instrument so much fun. I'll never forget how she made us laugh when she showed me how to hold my trombone for the first time. She was a real teacher.

I am so, so sorry to hear of your loss. Dianne and I shared many a dinner at NEMFA and ACDA festivals over the years. She was so well-known for her vocal jazz expertise and her immensely successful ensemble eSKape. I will miss her company and her laugh.

Ms. Rebelo was an excellent teacher; she is responsible for introducing me to choral music (as a high school freshman) and I am still involved with it 8 years later. I imagine I always will be. SK has lost a very dedicated person and I'm sure she'll be missed. My condolences to her family and those still at SK.

I am so sorry for the loss of Dianne. We had been friends in high school and she sang at my installation as Worthy Advisor of Pawtucket Assembly Rainbow. Everyone there loved her voice. She was very talented musically, and was always kind to me. My condolences to her family, especially Gary, Suzanne, Nicholas and Tanner. Our boys were on the same soccer team last year.

I will always remember Dianne for her love for my grandchildren, Melissa and Mat Holt, and her close friendship with my daughter Michele. She was a loving person and will be missed. I am sure she is with the Lord now and no longer in pain.
