Ronald Gardner Obituary

GARDNER, RONALD L., SR., 58, died Friday June 27, 2008 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Charlene M. (Lusignan) Gardner.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Gilberte Robert.

Mr. Gardner served as a Deputy State Marshall for the Rhode Island State Marshall's Office until his retirement. A United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War, Sgt. Gardner served with the 3d Amtrac Bn, 3r Marine Division and was the recipient of the Naval Commendation Medal with Combat V, Two Purple Hearts, and numerous other awards. He served Honorably from 1967-1973. He was a member of the R.I. Emerald Society, V.F.W. Post 2812, Fraternal Order of Police #24, and the Marine Corps League.

He was the loving father of Michelle M. Gardner of West Greenwich and Ronald L. Gardner, Jr. of Coventry. Cherished grandfather of six and a late grandchild.

His Funeral Service will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial, with military honors, will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. www.murphyfuneralhomes.org
