Irma Loring Obituary

LORING, IRMA L. (MATTESON), 97, of River Street, died Saturday at South County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, North Kingstown. She was the beloved wife of the late Byron J. Loring.

Born in North Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Adelbert B. and Grace S. (Potter) Matteson. She had lived in Warwick since 1945.

Mrs. Loring was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she served on the Women's Guild and Helping Hands Committee, and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and a former member of Roger Williams Baptist Church.

She was the loving mother of Richard W. Loring of West Greenwich and Joyce I. Slinn of Warwick. Cherished grandmother of six; great grandmother of nine. She was the caring sister of Robert P. Matteson of Stratford, CT, Anita Otis of North Kingstown, Ruth Dalby of Canyon Lake, CA and the late Adelbert, B. Earl, and William Matteson.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00am in Lakewood Baptist Church, 259 Atlantic Avenue, Warwick. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 5-8pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95).
