Robert A. Massouda M.D.

MASSOUDA, ROBERT A., M.D., 79, passed away on July 4 at his home in Hallandale, Florida.

Born in Cairo, Egypt, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Alfred Massouda. He attended the French Lyceum in Cairo, Cairo University and the Ein-Shams University Medical School. He completed his internship at Miriam Hospital and his residencies in psychiatry at the RI State Hospital for Mental Diseases and specialized in child psychiatry at Bradley Hospital where he was awarded a fellowship. Also, he completed a residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, completed training at Harvard, and was on the staff of Butler Hospital, RI State Hospital and Fuller Memorial.

Dr. Massouda served as psychiatrist and consultant at the East Bay Mental Health Center, St. Mary's Home for Children and the Pawtucket Institute for Mental Health Services. Dr. Massouda privately practiced medicine for 30 years in both Providence and Pawtucket and was a member of the RI Medical Society, the American Psychiatric Assn., the American Medical Assn., and the American Assn., of Psychiatric Clinics for Children. He was an avid gardener, a golfer, a painter of contemporary art and a concert pianist.

He was the beloved father of Cay C. Massouda, Juris Doctor, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bradley Hospital.
