Elizabeth D. Murray

MURRAY, ELIZABETH D., 84, of Holland Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on July 9, 2008 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late George F. Murray.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Helen (Schmieder) Durkin, she lived in Riverside for 59 years and wintered in Fort Pierce, FL.

Mrs. Murray was a secretary to the administrator of the Providence Veterans Administration for 7 years. She also was a case aid for the State of Rhode Island in the long term care department for 15 years. Elizabeth was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. She was a Past Honorable President of the Riverside Ladies Clam Diggers and Marching Society.

She is survived by her beloved children; Thomas F. Murray and his wife Diane of Sandy, Oregon, Michael J. Murray and his wife Kris of Riverside, Helen M. Sorrentino and her husband Carl of Riverside, Jane F. Murray of Riverside and Judith A. Murray of East Providence, a sister; Frances D. Clifford of Cumberland, six grandchildren; Jonathan Sorrentino and his wife Kim, Catherine Sorrentino and her fianc, Peter Mirabella, Elizabeth Sorrentino, David Sorrentino, Lisa Sorrentino and Isabella Overturf, two great grandchildren; Jonathan Sorrentino Jr. and Stephen Sorrentino; a foster grandson Rafael Reyes. She was the sister of the late Joseph E. Durkin.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 9 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 4:30-8 pm. Flowers are respectfully omitted.
