John McDonald Obituary

McDONALD, JOHN J., 83, of Greenpost Lane, Warwick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at home, surrounded by family and friends, under the care of VNA Hospice. He was the beloved husband of Louise M. (Francis) McDonald. Mr. and Mrs. McDonald celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past February.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Raymond and Martha (Young) McDonald, he lived in Warwick for most of his life.

Mr. McDonald was a machinist at ITT Hammel-Dahl for thirty years, retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was the loving father of John J. McDonald and his wife Claire of Warwick; two daughters, Maureen Horridge and her husband George of The Villages, FL, and Mary Beth McDonald of Warwick. He was the dear brother of Raymond McDonald of Mauii, HI, Joseph McDonald and his wife Anne of Warwick, and Edward McDonald and his wife Lois of Bridgeport, CT. He was the dear brother-in-law of Edward Francis and his wife Mae of East Providence. He was the cherished grandfather of ten, and great-grandfather of nine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 17, at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours are omitted. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions made in his memory to the St. Timothy Church Building Fund would be appreciated. Arrangements by Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, Warwick.
