Owen Kavanagh Obituary
Born in Providence, a son of the late Bernard J. and Veronica (Connelly) Kavanagh, he lived in Providence most of his life before moving to North Providence fifteen years ago.
Mike was a policeman with the Providence Police Department for twenty-eight years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant, in 1991. He was a member of the Providence Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge # 3, the Retired Providence Police & Firefighters Association, Sons of Irish Kings and the Smithfield Elks Lodge, #2359. He served his country in the United States Army.
He leaves a son, Bernard J. 'Barney' Kavanagh of East Providence; a daughter, Kathleen M. Cavaco of Seekonk, Massachusetts, and five grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Kevin Kavanagh, Claire Kavanagh, Anne Bergmann, and Jane F. Guilmette.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Monday, 5 - 8 pm. Dear Barney, my condolences at the loss of your father. I had the pleasure of providing care for him at Fatima Hospital, he was a wonderful man. I found it comical how this irish man adored his italian food, from "federal hill", that you would always bring.
