Norman Gilbert Obituary

GILBERT, NORMAN B., 94, of South County Trail, West Kingston, and formerly of The Peace Dale House, died Saturday. He was the husband of the late Florence (Burgess) Gilbert.

Born in Duane, NY, he was a son of the late Frank J. and Susie A. (Champlin) Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was the Captain of a research vessel for Johns Hopkins Chesapeake Bay Institute. Previously he was a commercial fisherman out of Pt. Judith for many years.

He leaves two daughters, Teresa and her husband Edward Timpson of Narragansett, Michele and Thomas Callan of West Kingston; two brothers, Wallace 'Stubby' Gilbert of MD and Robert 'Pete' Gilbert of NC; two sisters, Marion Smith of Peace Dale and Grace Jordan of FL; six grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours will be held Monday 6-8 PM in the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, for the restoration of Fr.
