Antonio Braga Obituary

BRAGA, ANTONIO L., 85, of Summit Street, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, July 19, 2008 at the Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Angelina (Sousa) Braga.

Born April 23, 1923, in Santa Maria, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Inacio Braga and Jacinta Jesus Lima. Mr. Braga came to the United States in 1967 and worked at American Insulated Wire for 21 years before retiring in 1988.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, he leaves his daughters, Maria Helena Rodrigues of East Providence and Maria Filomena de Sousa-Rosa of Elon, NC; his sons, Antero 'Andy' L. Braga of Riverside and Antonio Braga and John M. Braga, both of East Providence; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

His funeral will be Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Taunton Ave., East Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-8 p.m. www.rebellofuneralhome.com
