Berias Portas Obituary
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a son of the late Rosalio and Balvina (Berias) Portas, he was a former Cranston resident and had lived in Tucson for the past 14 years. Mr. Portas was a took maker for Augut, Inc. He was a registered patent holder with the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office; he also was a writer and researcher who published several books.
Besides his wife, he leaves 1 son, Gonzalo A. Portas Hernandez of Sacramento, CA, and 1 daughter, Graciela Portas-Palumbo of Cranston, 2 granddaughters, Jessica M. Cutler and Jennifer M. Palumbo.
His funeral will be Wednesday at 9 AM from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Mark Church, Garden City, Cranston, at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends may call 1 hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the University of Arizona Tucson Library will be appreciated.

Although I never knew Mr. Portas, I have the privilege of working with his daughter Grace. I can only imagine what a wonderful, caring and bright man that he was as I see all of these qualities and more shine in his daughter everyday as she makes the difference in the lives of so many children and teachers at Gladstone Street School. Grace you have my deepest sympathy. Know I am here for you.
