Leo Roy Obituary

ROY, LEO A., 80, of Cactus St., died Tuesday July 29, 2008 in the Kent County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lois R. (Nutter) Roy.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Florida (Sawyer) Roy and had been a resident of Warwick for most of his life. Mr. Roy was employed by the Leviton Mfg. Co. in Warwick for thirty eight years, mostly as a supervisor until his retirement in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in West Warwick, an Army veteran of WW II and was well known as the 'King of Yard Sales' and as the 'Mayor of the Rocky Hill Flea Market.' He also was very fond of his beloved dog Chloe.

He is survived by a daughter Renee M. Smith of West Warwick, two sons, Leo A. Roy Jr. of Coventry, Michael K. Roy of Warwick, sister June Pineau of Warwick, two brothers, James Roy of Coventry, William Roy of Bradenton, FL and a granddaughter Haley M. Smith of West Warwick.

The funeral will be held Monday at 9:15 AM from the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence St., West Warwick. Interment with Military Honors will follow at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours Sunday 4-7 PM.
