Mary Murphy Obituary

MURPHY, MARY LINDA (GRANDCHAMP), 61, of Orrin St. Raymonds Point, Coventry, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Jane Brown Unit RI Hospital while surrounded by her family & friends. She was the wife of James R. Murphy for 31 years. Born in West Warwick,

She was the daughter of the late Paul A. & Genevieve A. (Zelazny) Grandchamp and sister of the late Leonard P. 'Lenny' Grandchamp.

Mary, a Parishoner of Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, was a bookkeeper for the Parish for the past 19 yrs. She retired as Office Manager at the RI Medical Center Food Warehouse.

Mary was a Lector at Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, a member of the Holy Rosary Society, served on the Parish Finance and the Parish Festival & Bazaar Committees, and was Chairperson of the Parish Century Club. She enjoyed bowling, music, boating on Johnson's Pond and campfires.

Besides her husband, Mary is survived by several cousins and all of her friends.

Her funeral will be Monday at 9 am from the Robert A. Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Coventry, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, 445 Washington St., Coventry, RI 02816. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to her Parish will be appreciated.

Jim, I'm sooo sorry & shocked to hear about Mary's passing! I was out of town and just found out yesterday. She was such a sweet & caring person, and I'm sure you will miss her immensely. I remember the few times I was at Johnson's pond w/ everyone when we were younger, and the "buzz" when we all learned you two were dating. May the fond memories help you through this trying time. Jim.... I knew Mary for many years. We went to parochial school and high school together. She was truly a wonderful person. You were so lucky to have her in your life for 31 years.
