Edmund DeJesus Obituary

DeJESUS, EDMUND, SR., 80, of Carman Street, Cranston, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Emily (Poli) DeJesus. They were married for 59 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Tobias and Angelina (Morgado) DeJesus.

Mr. DeJesus was a toolmaker for the former United Wire Company of Cranston for 28 years before retiring in 1987. He owned and operated a taxi for the Laurel Sweeney Cab Company. He served as a Scoutmaster of Troop 27, Cranston and also as an officer for the Cranston Portuguese Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He lived a life in service to others and total devotion to his family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving children, Edmund DeJesus, Jr. of Norwood, MA, Debra-Anne Marble of North Kingstown, and Stephen DeJesus of Newton, MA. Mr. DeJesus was the cherished grandfather of James and Kathleen DeJesus-McConnaughy, Justin, Nathan and Ethan Marble and Emilia DeJesus. He was the brother of the late Norma DeJesus and David DeJesus.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church, Elmwood Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol. VISITING HOURS Monday 4-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in loving memory to: The Neurological Intensive Care Unit c/o RI Hospital, Eddy St., Providence, RI 02903.
