Gertrude Rodgers Obituary
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Thomas P. and Margaret M. (Scanlon) Moan, she had been a Cranston resident for 40 years. Mrs. Rodgers was an eligibility technician for the Rhode Island Department of Employment Security for 20 years retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Rodgers leaves 1 son, Joseph F. Rodgers, Jr., Presiding Justice, Rhode Island Superior Court of Narragansett; 1 daughter, Jean R. Patterson, retired principal of Saint Paul School of Cranston; 1 sister, Madelyn Girard of South Kingstown; 1 brother, John J. McKenna of Swansea, MA; 8 grandchildrenand 9 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Marjorie D. McDonald, former bookkeeper of St. Matthew School in Cranston, and sister of the late Dorothea Fallon, Sabina Duffy and Theresa Pennachinni.
Her funeral will be Thursday at 9 AM from The Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Matthew Church, Elmwood Avenue, Cranston, at 10 AM. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02915 or The Providence Journal Santa Claus Fund will be appreciated. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
