Charles Hammarlund Obituary
Mr. Hammarlund served his country during WWII as a Military Policeman. He was a resident of North Guilford for over 40 years and was president of the North Guilford Cemetery for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the Guilford Agricultural Society and Boy Scout Leader of Troop 2 Branford. Before retiring he had worked for the US Soil Conservation Service and US Dept. of Commerce for 44 years.
Services will be private per his request at the convenience of the family. A celebration of his life will be held at the Hammarlund residence on Sat. August 23 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to SUNY - ESF Ranger School, P.O. Box 48 Wanakena, NY 13695 or the Guilford Agricultural Society. P.O. Box 290, Guilford, CT 06437. I still remember Charlie with all the unfiltered fondness and friendliness I was fortunate to experience and share with him for the several years that I knew him. Maybe it had to do with us both being Leos, but Charlie also had his special touch, along with a special smile and hearty laugh. It's hard to know it's already been 15 years but one can never forget the time during which we knew each other. It's a memory worth keeping!

I am so sorry I missed Charlie's passing he was a great man and a wonderfull friend, we had great adventures with the Soils and Water District, I will miss him, and if there is anything I can do please call me.

I just wish to express my deepest sympathy to the family. We may not be close but I love you all. I remember as kids when we would all get together at Grandmothers and Grandfathers we always had a good time. Now that we all have families of our own it really seems so long ago.
Love to everyone. I am going to visit my Dad for a week starting Tuesday. To be with him for his 81st birthday.

Charlie was a true original and committed to the profession and those coming up through the ranks. Charlie was of great support to me in my early years and manged to get great joy out of life at the same time. He will be missed.

Nancy and Charlie's Family, Charlie was a great man. His work in economic development made a real difference in the lives of of thousands of people in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
