Sophie Alibrio Obituary

ALIBRIO, SOPHIE T. (LUPO), 87, of Columbus Blvd., Cranston, passed away Monday, August 18, 2008 at RI Hospital in Providence. She was the devoted wife of the late Matteo Alibrio.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Domenico and Teresa (Cinciarruto) Lupo, she resided in Cranston for the past 45 years.

She was the mother of the late Matteo S. Alibrio and his wife Rose Marie (Magnone) Alibrio of Cranston. She was the loving Nana to her grandchildren Jennifer Alibrio of Cranston and Matteo J. Alibrio and his wife Brandy of South Kingstown, and her two great-grandchildren Dante M. Alibrio and Cole D. Alibrio. She had two sisters, the late Esther D'Andrea and Rose Lewis as well as four brothers, the late Michael Mirabella, Joseph Lupo, John D. Lupo and Tony Lupo.

She will forever be remembered for her hospitality and great Italian cooking as well as her warm personality and sense of humor. She had a strong will and a very generous heart. She was most proud of her family. Nana is very special and can never be replaced.

Besides her immediate family, she is survived by several nieces, nephews and dear friends. She will be sadly missed.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Cranston St., Cranston at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS WEDNESDAY 4-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1905.
