Alexander Onischuk Obituary

ONISCHUK, ALEXANDER SR., of Branch Pike, died Tuesday at the Greenville Healthcare Facility. He was the husband of the late Margaret A. (Lovenbury) Onischuk.

Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Alexander and Eva (Kirmelevich) Onischuk.

Alex was a Supervisor of the vehicle fleet for the United States Postal Service for many years before retiring.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WW II. An avid sportsman, he was a competitive shooter, and marksman. He was a member of the Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club and the Smithfield Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing most of his life.

He leaves a sister, Dorothy P. Overton of North Providence, two nieces and a nephew. He was the father of the late Alexander Onischuk, Jr. and brother of the late John Oniss, Estelle Flower, and Sharon Lamarre.

Alex was an old friend who I met when I worked with Peggy at the S & H Green Stamp Store in Providence back in the 50's-I moved to Smithfield in 1960 and our friendship continued; I am saddened by his loss, but know that he and his family are together again.
