Marcel Messier Obituary
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edith (Susi) Messier, sons Michael of Mexico City, Mexico and Jeffrey and his wife Catherine (Marques) of Fall River, MA, his cherished grandchildren Marc and Matthew Messier, and his brother Richard of Fall River, MA along with several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Pawtucket, RI, the son of Edgar and Emma Messier. Marcel attended Prevost High School in Fall River. He served 2 years in the Army during WWII where he was awarded the bronze star seeing battle in Europe. He then re-enlisted in the Marines after the war and served for another 8 years being honorably discharged after advancing to rank of Sergeant. Marcel went on to work 23 years at the Providence Post Office where he retired in 1986.
Preceding Marcel in death were sisters Yvette (Peggy) Messier and Clarice Chagnon, along with Brother Ernest Messier.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave. Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Marys Church Cranston St. Cranston. Burial with military honors will be in St. Anns Cemetery Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Tuesday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Home and Hospice Care of RI, 169 George St., Pawtucket, RI 02860-9924.
