Harold Larsen Obituary

LARSEN, HAROLD, 85, of East Greenwich Ave., died Friday, August 29, 2008 in the Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Astrid I. (Gustafson) Larsen.

Mr. Larsen was born in Providence, a son of the late Ole and Sigrid Larsen and had been a resident of West Warwick for the past eight years previously living in Little Compton. He was a scientific illustrator for C.R.R.E.L. Army Corps of Engineers affiliated with the Department of the Army and later with McLaughlin Research Laboratory in Middletown, RI retiring in 1980 after thirty-four years of employment. A WWII Navy veteran, he was the reunion coordinator for the LST 1012 Group.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Harald A. Larsen of East Providence, a daughter Karen S. Amitrano of Narragansett, three sisters Barbara Farrell of Westerly, Margaret Larsen of East Greenwich and Doris Vincent of Warwick, a brother Arthur Larsen of Warwick and three grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Sylvia Mattera, Joan Costintino, William, Conrad and Robert Larsen.

Funeral service Thursday at 11 AM in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Interment with military honors in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Should friends desire, donations in his memory to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd Building Fund, 383 Old North Rd., Kingston, RI 02881, will be appreciated. My heart breaks for all of you. You were blessed with an exceptional man. He was very talented and was loved my all his family. I will miss him. The last time I saw him he had an amazing smile on his face, I want to remember him just like that.
