William Lopes Obituary

LOPES, WILLIAM SR., 86, died September 3, 2008 at RI Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa (Cabral) Lopes. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John T. and Mary (De Rocha) Lopes.

He worked as a wire drawer for Washburn Wire for 29 years. He worked for the East Providence School Lunch Program.

Besides his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his children; William Lopes Jr. of Providence, Debra Lopes-Speaks of East Providence, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Claire Sherman of Richmond, Jose Lopes of Maine. He was the father of the late Richard Lopes. He was the brother of the late Doris Gomez, Alfred, Edward and Henry Lopes and Eva Sheffield.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM in St. Martha's Church, Pawtucket Ave. East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-8PM. www.rebellofuneralhome.com

Aunt Theresa and the entire Lopes Family,
I was sadden to hear of Uncle Willie's passing. When I think of Uncle Willie I think of Shaw's Market , where we would always run into each other and would stand in the isle and talk. I also recall wonderful visits to Martin St. with my mom. Uncle Willie will be missed , but not forgotten. God Bless, Love Terry
