William Diamonte Obituary

DIAMONTE, WILLIAM R., 'BILL' 'MR. BILL', 81, of Pontiac Street, passed on to a peaceful journey Wednesday with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband of Marie N. (DiCarlo) Diamonte, they celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on September 7, 2008. He was the beloved son of the late Louis and Maria (Silva) Diamonte; he was born and raised in West Warwick but spent his married life in Warwick.

Before his retirement, Bill worked as a Delivery Driver for Providence Lacquer for 25 years and previously worked at Pontiac Mill and Saybrook Mfg. Co. A WW II Veteran, he served his country in The United States Army, Troop C 68th Constabulary Squadron, serving most of his time in Germany.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Church Bazaar Committee. He was also a member of the U.S. Constabulary Assoc., C.M.A. of RI, and a former member of the Natick Seniors Bowling League.

Bill enjoyed being with his family, especially chats with his grandchildren. He loved Country Music, Saturday night at the Jamboree, dancing, traveling, bowling, wood-crafting and craft shows. For many years, Bill & Marie participated in Professional Craft Fairs throughout New England. With his outgoing, polite, fun personality he made many lasting friendships.

Bill bravely fought a four year battle with Multiple Myeloma and its complications with his usual easy-going nature and left his illness and pain in Gods Hands.

William is survived by his devoted son Richard W. 'Rick' Diamonte and his wife Barbara and his beloved grandchildren Matthew J. Diamonte and Nicole Marie Pinheiro and her husband Luis all of Warwick, whom he adored. He is also survived by his loving sisters Mary Imbriglio, Esther Lima, and Lillian Forleo all of Warwick; his loyal brothers Manuel Diamonte of Cranston, Edward Diamonte of West Warwick and the late Louis A. Diamonte and their families who provided a great support team. He is also survived by his wife's family who also, unselfishly, helped care for him.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, if you choose, gifts in his memory made to Sacred Heart Church, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (www.multiplemyeloma.org), or a charity of ones choice would be appreciated.murphyfuneralhomes.org
