John was one of the most wonderful men I ever met. I'm thinking and praying for him as the anniversary is in a couple days.
I miss him. I can still hear his laughter and him singing to me qhile playing my bass guitar.
He's missed and loved by all, and my prayers go out to all of his family and friends.

Kathy,
John was a kind, gentle, fun-loving man that always had a smile for everyone. He was hilarious, especially when his audience was Ken and Ray. Most important to me was the way that he took my son, Kenny, under his wing the summer that they worked together. He cared so much for others and he never realized all the people that were touched by his sincerity. Your family now has their own angel to watch over them!
Love,

To the Tamer Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of Johnny. I did not know him as well as others, but was a person that I have known since High School. Throughout the years I would see him at different places, mostly on a bus. We would talk and he had such a great smile and was always so pleasant to talk to. He had a great heart. We are two musicians, though in two different worlds of music. Praise God for such a person as Johnny Tamer. My heart goes out to his family.

It was later summer 1968, I was twelve when I first met John and Donny… they were looking for a bass player, so one day Michael Silva and my cousin Peter Ramos called on me and asked if I could fill in on bass. I jumped at the chance, it was my first band; I had only been playing for a short while and I knew I was the weakest link. John knew it too. He took me under his wing and worked with me. We spend hours up in his room, sometimes we’d all be at Donny house playing for an audience that would build up in his bedroom. We learned Beatles, Santana, Grand Funk, Deep Purple and Jimi Hendrix tunes… you named it we knew it. It was a great time in my life also a blessing to end up with these two talented musicians. I’ve learned so much from Johnny & Donny. Later on that year I eventually met up with some of the other great musicians from the area like Michael Khouri, Skip Mahler, Greg Hodde, Rick Vinniti, and Brian Montero. But we all know, John was gifted, he had something that was extra special, no one any where played the way he did and we all felt that way. By the time he reach thirteen he knew his guitar inside and out, a lot more than most guys in their twenty’s. A virtuoso’ and a child prodigy, he brought the best out of everyone that played with him, there was a reason that John crossed my path. He’s been a great example and inspiration to me growing up as a young musician. Well verse in any musical style, he was such an awesome guitarist, so unbelievable and yet so incredibly humble. He changed my life forever as well as everyone else around him, Johnny left a lasting impression in my soul and his spirit lives on in me and in the music I play. He always had my up most respect and I honor my friend our true friend Johnny Tamer he’s a musicians musician, my voodoo brother bound together through music, he will always live on in our memories and in all of our hearts, soul to soul ~ “The story of life is quicker then the blink of an eye, the story of love is hello, goodbye, until we all meet again”. ~ Jimi Hendrix ~
Travel well my brother ~ Johnny Edwards ~
God bless the Tamer Family and Friends…always

John will always hold a special place in our hearts. My husband played guitar with John at Penny's pub. He frequented our Monday night poker games and always made us laugh. Our most precious memory was when John played "Somewhere over the rainbow" at our wedding ceremony.

48 years ago two little boys from seekonk formed a friendship that would last forever.Johnny and I met when we were both 5 yrs. old. Our friendship was based on a mutual love and respect for music and eachother.I can"t tell you how many bands I drummed for through the years, but I can tell you that Johnny was my lead guitarist in the majority of them. With just one guitar riff played just right Johnny could raise your musicianship to new heights.Like wise with just one word said just right he could drop you to your knees with laughter.Through the years I have had the honor to play with some of the top local musicians of our time-Michael Khouri,George Roderick,Johnny Edwards,Skip Mahler,Greg Hodde-And two very special guys,my bandmates for the last 12 yrs.Rick Vinniti and Mark Castro. All of these musicians have two things in common. One,they are all strong talents in their own right and two, they have all,in one way or another, been influenced by Johnny.I cant say it any simpler than this-One box of regal tip drumsticks-$80.00,a complete set of remo drum heads-$130.00,Zildjian cymbals-$900.00,a set of Slingerland drums-$2600.00,the chance to use them to make music with Johnny just one more time...priceless.

Everywhere I go or play all I hear is "Where's Johnny Tamer", "Is Johnny coming and playing tonight?".
Life is tough and shouldn't be so serious. Johnny brought laughter to everyone and the fire of music.
No one played like Johnny Tamer, not Blackmore, Dimeola, or Carlos, although he loved them and never thought or spoke of himself as in their league. Johnny had the fire for music and laughter. When he played it was uncontainable and mesmerizing. He felt and expressed every note and joke with all his being and more. His facial expressions and actions were beyond Hollywood and his musicianship beyond approach.
Where's Johnny Tamer? He's in all who knew him, undeniably.
Your loving brother, Ricky

Kathy,
As soon as I saw John's name here today, it hit me what a loss this is for you. Though it goes back years now (from Organic days!), I remember vividly how much your brother meant to you... am thinking of you during these waves of sorrow.

I could write a book about Johnny, and one day I just may. The main theme will be Inspiration. Johnny was the most talented musician I've ever known and he inspired Donny, Ricky, George, Mark and myself, as well as many others to play. And not just to play, but play from the heart. He accepted nothing less from you. And today as we all gig and play, we can thank in large part, our dear friend, Johnny Tamer.
He was our musical leader and mentor. He was respected and revered by all of us. And as serious as he was about his guitar he was equally as crazy as a consummate comedian. The characters he invented, his imitations and his pure wit had us all in stitches so much that we couldn't wait to see him, hang with him and maybe even be like him.
He made us laugh until we cried.
And now we are all crying for our fallen leader.
With love and deep sadness,
Michael Khouri
