Elsie Brown Obituary

BROWN, ELSIE KENT, 91, wife of the late Thomas M. Brown passed away on September 12. Elsie was a life long resident of East Providence. She was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Harriet (Allen) Kent, and a direct descendant of John Howland.

Elsie attended Bryant College and was a member of Hope Congregational Church for over 75 years. She was a Deacon and Choir Member of the church and served on many committees and bazaars. She loved to travel, read, knit and make crafts. Elsie worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Kirkpatrick & Sons and Winslow Gardens.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela K. Brown and son-in-law, Stephen J. Flanagan, of Lee, NH, a sister Mildred K. Davenport of East Providence, a brother, Ellsworth H. Kent of Peterborough, NH, a nephew, Christopher H. H. Kent of Chelmsford, MA, and many dear loved ones.

A memorial Service will be held in her honor on Saturday, September 20 at Hope Church, 120 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence at 2 PM. Burial will be private. Donations in her memory may be made to Hope Church or Winslow Gardens, 40 Irving Ave., East Providence. Visit smithmason.com for information and online condolences.

Neva and I were extremely sorrowed to hear of Elsie's passing. We have fond memories of our visits with her and are glad that she and Dot got to visit us during their travels.
