Ida Rathbun Obituary

RATHBUN, IDA J., 95, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008. She was the wife of the late Edwin C. Rathbun and the daughter of the late George N. and Anna M. (Hutchison) Cook.

She was a teacher and then principal for the Quidnessett Kindergarten Program for 20 years. Following her retirement, she was a cook for many organizations and group homes. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Eastern Star.

She was the mother of the late Margaret C. (Rathbun) Sumney and is survived by two grandchildren; Grace F. Sumney and Lucretia Lukas; five great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and was the grandmother of the late W. Joel Sumney. She was the sister of Richard Cook, Mary Clark, Barbara Savage and was the sister of the late William N., John E. and Major George I. Cook.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Sunday at 2:00pm in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Peirce St. E. Greenwich. Burial will be in the St. Luke's Memorial Garden.

I"m proud to have know Gram, she was a very proud Woman and I found comfort in taking care of her for a short time. She will be missed very much.
