John Biddle Obituary
Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 7, 1925, he was the son of the late Brigadier General Nicholas and Sarah (Lippincott) Biddle.
Mr. Biddle served in the United States Army during WWII and during the Korean War with the First Philadelphia City Troop. He was a prominent yachting cinematographer, famous for his America's Cup coverage.
He was the husband of Amy (McKay) Biddle of Philadelphia, whom he married in 1977. He is also survived by his daughter Sophie Biddle Hakim of Los Angles, CA, his son John Scott Biddle, Jr. of Northampton, MA, his stepchildren, Winfred Lane vanRoden of New York, NY, Peter Cook vanRoden of Stamford, CT and Julia McKay vanRoden of Old Greenwich, CT, as well as his siblings Nicholas Biddle, Jr., and Sarah Lee Stokes of Philadelphia and Wharton Biddle of Jamestown and eight grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Joanna Biddle Johnson.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2008, at 11:00am, in St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown. Burial will be private.
