Virgil Oliver Obituary

OLIVER, VIRGIL 77, a lifelong resident of East Providence, died October 7, 2008 at RI Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Etta 'Toni' (Giuliani) Oliver.

Born in East Providence, he was the son of the late Virgil S. and Sarah (Costa) Oliver.

He was an accounting clerk for RI Public Transit Authority for 17 years, before retiring in 1991. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. The Sisters of Mercy with Partners in Philanthropy Award honored Virgil in 2005 on National Philanthropy Day.

Besides his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his brothers; Frank Oliver of Riverside, Anthony Oliver of Seekonk and many godchildren, nieces and nephews. Virgil was a beloved friend to many. He was the brother of the late Sally Maciel.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL Home, 901 Broadway East Providence, RI. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM in St. Martha's Church, Pawtucket Ave. East Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3-8PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Virgil's memory may be made to Mt. Dear Etta

I am so sorry to read in today's paper the Card of Thanks for Virgil, he was such a nice man, I can still picture you both and your great smile.
