Robert Newman Obituary
Mr. & Mrs. Newman have lived in Central Falls since 1965. He graduated from the University of Alabama. He was an Attorney in private practice for many years maintaining offices in Central Falls and Pawtucket, retiring in 1986. He also was a Math Teacher for the Pawtucket School Department, a former city solicitor and council member for the city of Central Falls. He volunteered for the RI Bar Association. He was a member of Rehoboth Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf, he also was a ham radio operator. He was an army Air Force Veteran, receiving both the Purple Heart and Silver Star. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Robert, Thomas, and Michael Newman, three daughters, Linda Sypek, Joanne and Paula Newman, a sister, Robin Wright of Georgia, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Albert and William Newman, Nancy Shuford and Bonnie Wooten. The funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30am in Saint Basil The Great Church, Skyview Drive, Lincoln. Burial with military honors will be in Saint Basil Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home, Friday 3-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Basil's Building Fund, 111 Cross Street, Central Falls, RI, 02863 or IN-Sight, 43 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick, RI, 02888, would be appreciated. Dear Newman Family,
My deepest condolences to you and yours. At family functions I took the opportunity to get to know Mr. Newman a little better. Each conversation we had gave me greater insight into the smart, funny and charming man he was and will continue to be in the hearts and minds of those who love him. He will be missed.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. He was such a dear friend of myself and my late husband Ron. We had such good times with him at Jamro's!! I will never forget the time he and Bob from the Hacker's came down to visit with us in Port St Lucie and stayed at our house. What fun!!!
