Norma Soforenko Obituary

SOFORENKO, NORMA (GLADSTONE), of Springfield, MA and formerly of Providence, a loving mother, grandmother and friend, died on Thursday, October 9, 2008.

Born in Fall River she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Etta (Maker) Gladstone.

A graduate of Rhode Island College, Norma was active in the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), and recently retired from her position with the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. Norma loved to play bridge with her friends and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children; Joel Soforenko, Marjorie Soforenko, and Cynthia MacLeod and her husband Robert, her grandchildren; Daniel, Jeffrey, Julie, Carolyn and Michael, her brothers; Larry Gladstone and his wife Elaine and Arthur Gladstone and his wife Maxine. She was preceded in death by her brother Bernard Gladstone and her sister-in-law Harriet (Fishbein) Gladstone. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, TODAY, October 12th at 10:00 AM at SUGARMAN-SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 458 Hope St., Providence with burial in Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to The American Cancer Society.

To Arthur, Larry & Family,

Hazel Bradley would like to say she is so sorry to hear of your loss.

Hazel now 95 years old and reading the paper last Sunday and realized it was too late for her to attend the service, but asked me her daughter, Cheryl Bradley to send this message with love and prayers.
