Anthony deWardener Obituary

DE WARDENER, ANTHONY, 64, passed away on October 12th at his home in Narragansett surrounded by his family.

Born in Wakefield, he was the son of the late Edouard R. and Aurelie (Murchison) deWardener. He earned his living designing computer programs, but his true passion was his family and the game of golf. Amongst Tony's greatest qualities were his appreciation for every day and his loyalty to friends and family. He was the husband of Donna deWardener and the late Katherine Fredette. He is survived by his daughters Danielle Dasta and husband Russ, Joanna Ashley deWardener and partner Benjamin Phillips and his son Guy Anthony deWardener and wife Cheryl all of Narragansett. He was the grandfather of Reece and Zachary deWardener. He leaves his twin brother Maxwell deWardener of Exeter and half brother Hugh deWardener of London, England. He was also the brother of the late Kenneth deWardener. He leaves several nieces and nephews and countless friends.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Wednesday, October 15th at 10 A.M. in St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central St., Narragansett. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday 5-8 P.M. in the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Donations may be made to Thundermist Health Center, 191 Social St., Woonsocket RI 02895. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. deWardener about a year ago. Although the meeting was brief I could tell he was a wonderful man with a great love of life and the people he knew. That feeling was only confirmed by my fiance with the stories he told me about Mr. deWardener.
Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the deWardener family.

Tonys Family I played golf yesterday with very mixed emotions. I was thinking of Tony on almost every shot and not doing well then I smiled and asked myself "what would Tony say? He would have said "Billy smile and have fun" I did just that and dedicated the rest of the round to a very very good golfer and more important a very very good human being. It was a pleasure to call Tony a friend. Many thanks to Ashley for her up dates on caregiver!

Tony was a great guy. He didn't care if you werea good or bad golfer he would play with you anyway and give good tips on the game. We always had a lot of laughs on the course and clubhouse.
I will miss him a lot.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thinking of you,

What a great short game Tony had. A great putter. Although I never got to play with Tony, I do remember him in 1961 when Tony and Max pulled into the parking lot with a new Ford convertible. Wow and the girls went nuts. He will be missed.

Dear Danielle, Russ, Guy, Cheryl,

There are so few words that seem enough at a time like this. Just know, in your hearts, that Tony was surrounded with great love not only when he was ill but always and it came from all of you. Continue to be each others Rock and know your friends are there for each of you.

To Tony's Family,
I was shocked and saddened to see the notice in this AM's paper. I had the privilege of knowing Tony in the early 70's when we both worked for Burroughs Corp. in East Providence. He was quite a guy, always with a smile and a sly, witty comment. I had the occassion to see him a few years ago with some other old Burroughs friends and he hadn't changed one bit. I can only hope that the memories of your best times with him will help you get through this most difficult time.

We are so sorry to hear that Tony has passed away. We have very fond memories of him as a child in Narragansett and the time we lived with him and Kathy. Every Christmas always brought menories of our Christmas together when we had less than nothing between us.

Can't believe that both of your parents are gone within such a short period. They are truly missed by us.
