Joan Calise Obituary
Born in Providnece, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Capraro) Calise. She resided in Johnston for most of her life.
She was a graduate of Rhode Island College holding both Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She taught in the Cranston School System for 32 years.
She leaves a brother, Thomas and his wife Mary of Dennis, MA. Also surviving are three nieces, Erinn Calise, Elizabeth O'Boyle and Marybeth Calise and three grand nephews, Jake, Ryan and Sean O'Boyle and many dear relatives and friends.
There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Route 5, Johnston, at 11 A.M. on Monday, October 20.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Rhode Island College Scholarship Fund, 600 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI, or Home and Hospice Care of RI, 50 Maude Street, Providence.

We had the pleasure of knowing Joan through a teacher friend of hers who taught with her at Parkview for many years. She was such a warm , friendly and compassionate lady. She was always asking how we were all doing.
She was a unique and caring person.We will always remember her smile and infectious laughter. May God keep her in His loving care.

I had the pleasure of meeting Joan in her later years. She had a joyful soul and she always lifted my spirit with her laughter. Her incredible ability to remember names and details never ceased to amaze me. Her stories of daily life and events were always eloquent and warm with rich detail. She truely enriched my life. My husband and I felt very blessed to have gotten to know her and will miss her dearly.

MISS CALISE WAS MY ENGLISH TEACHER AT PARK VIEW JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN THE EARLY '60'S. SHE WAS ALWAYS A FAVORITE OF MINE AND I ALWAYS WILL REMEMBER THAT ONCE SHE LET MY BOYFRIEND COME ACROSS THE HALL FROM STUDY TO SIT WITH ME. MAY SHE REST IN PEACE....SHE WAS A WONDERFUL PERSON AND AN EXCELLENT TEACHER.

I shall always have very fond memories of my Cousin Joan.....
she was such a wonderful, upbeat person and reached out to all of her many friends and relatives.
