Constant Simonini Obituary

SIMONINI, CONSTANT L. 'DINO', 93, of Humes Avenue, Warwick, died on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre in Cranston. He was the husband of the late Carol D. (Hertzke) Simonini.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Simon J. and Gemma (Togneri) Simonini, he lived in Warwick since 1970. He was a 1937 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he was a member of Phi Delta Gamma fraternity. Mr. Simonini served with the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1938 to 1941. An Army veteran of World War II, he attained the rank of Lt. Colonel.

Mr. Simonini served for 22 years as a Special Agent with the FBI, retiring in 1970. He then served for 15 years as a Director of Planning and Research for the City of Warwick Police Dept., retiring in 1985. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Warwick Council Knights of Columbus, and the Warwick Lodge of Elks. He was a communicant of St. Benedict Church.

He is survived by three children, Peter J. Simonini, and his wife Victoria and son Jake, of New York City, Donna M. Fraser, and her husband James and daughters Mackenzie and Alexandra, of Warwick, and John T. Simonini, and his wife Amy and daughter Abigail, of Warwick; a brother, Peter A. Simonini, and his wife Arlene, of Warwick; a sister, Gloria Nascenzi of Souderton, PA; a sister-in-law, Marion Hertzke of College Point, NY; a brother-in-law, William Hertzke, and his wife Judy, of Hazlet, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 16, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Peter, Donna and John,
I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your father. I remember as a child visiting your grandparents and having your dad say to me, "take a number, add 7, divide by 2, etc." He always had a smile on his face and was always a sweetheart. I hope time will ease your sorrow and you will be able to remember the happy times you spent with your dad.
