Joseph Gomes Obituary
Born in Guarda, Portugal a son of Joaquim and Maria (Martins) Gomes both of Pawtucket he came to this country in 1970 and settled in Pawtucket. Joseph was a self employed upholsterer operating Hagen Upholstery Co of Pawtucket for thirty five years. He was a communicant of St. Mary Church Pawtucket.
Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Antonio Gomes of North Providence and Manuel Gomes of Pawtucket, a sister Maria Barbosa also of Pawtucket and six nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 A.M. from the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Pine Street, Pawtucket at 10:00 A.M Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours Thursday 6-8 P.M. In lieu of flowere gifts in Joseph's Memory may be made to the American Stroke Foundation, 5964 Dearborn Drive Mission Kansas 66202.

Dear Manny, Maria and Family:
Words can not express the sorrow that I feel for all of you on the loss of your son, brother, uncle and friend. I was shocked to read of Joe's passing.
My advice to all of you is to take one day at a time and remain a close knit family because you will need each other to lean on in the coming days, weeks and months ahead.

I didn't know him, but assuming he was much like you guys, I'dve "adopted" him as another older brother, just as I had long ago "adopted" the two of you.
