Barbara Sand Obituary

SAND, BARBARA J. (DRURY), 85, of Warwick and Jamestown, a homemaker, passed away October 9, 2008. She was the wife of the late Barrett Sand.

Born in Worcester, MA she was a daughter of the late Dr. Ralph and Isabelle (Owler) Drury.

Mrs. Sand was a 1945 graduate of Middlebury College.

She was the happiest living in Jamestown in her later years by the ocean she loved. She loved nature, music, the Patriots and tennis, but most of all she loved and was loved by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon S. Schwab and her husband Tony of Warwick, her two sons Jeffrey S. Sand, Sr. and his wife Rhonda of Cranston and Brian B. Sand and his wife Kathleen of West Kingston; a sister Evelyn Fahlbeck of New Hampshire; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Matt Sand Scholarship Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 51 Main Street, Wakefield, RI 02879 would be appreciated.
