Amelia Sylvia Obituary

SYLVIA, AMELIA (GRASSO), 93, a resident of West Warwick, formerly of California and Florida, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the West View Nursing Home, West Warwick. She was the wife of the late Raymond Sylvia.

Born in Providence a daughter of the late John and Angela (Ferrito) Grasso, she served as a Registered Dietician at several medical care facilities in California until her retirement in 1980.

She is survived by her nephew, former State Representative Raymond T. Paolino, and her niece, Gloria A. Paolino, Reg. Pharm., both of West Warwick. Mrs. Sylvia was a beloved aunt, grand-aunt and great-grand-aunt to her nieces and nephews, and aunt of the late John V. Paolino. She was predeceased by her siblings, the late Alfred and Custy Grasso, Grace Paolino, Stella Borrasi and Santina D'Onofrio.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at 8:30 a.m. from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 843 Providence St., West Warwick. Burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to St. Joseph Church.
