David Cournoyer Obituary

COURNOYER, DAVID A., SR., 82, of Rockcrest Drive, Cranston, died on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Woodland Convalescent Center in North Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Mae (Tougas) Cournoyer.

Born in Lynn, MA, the son of the late Henry and Rose (Lacourse) Cournoyer, he lived in Cranston for 15 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Cournoyer was a machinist at Sealol Corp. in Warwick for 25 years, retiring in 1988. After retiring, he was a self-employed window washer.

He is survived by two sons, David A. Cournoyer, Jr., and his wife Joyce, of Pascoag, and Joseph P. Cournoyer, and his wife Kathy, of Cranston; a daughter, Nancy A. Nicolace, and her husband Nick, of Warwick; four grandchildren, Christina, Guy, Matthew, and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Crystal, Sebastian, and Shaidan. He was the brother of the late Yvonne Conway.

His funeral will be held on Friday, October 24, at 8 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Visiting hours are Thursday 5-8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN.

We have lots of good memories of visits with Dave, and we know Ryan will always remember 'Grandpa Dave' - his 'cartoon buddy'
