John Galligan Obituary

GALLIGAN, JOHN P., JR., 71, of Nardolillo Street, died Saturday at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. Born in Providence, a son of the late John P. and Mary (Beagan) Galligan. He was the step son of Edna I. (Mathewson) Galligan of Johnston.

John was a fork lift operator in California for many years. He lived in Anaheim, California for forty years before moving back to Johnston five years ago.

He was a communicant and Eucharist Minister at Saint Brigid Church, Johnston. He was a member of Johnston Senior Center and active in volunteer work.

Besides his step mother he is survived by a brother, Thomas P. Galligan of Scituate, a sister, Genevieve K. Ryan of Johnston, several neices and nephews. He was the brother of the late W. Gerard Galligan.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Brigid Church, Plainfield Street, Johnston. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. Dear Galligan Family,

John worked at my community center as a volunteer. He taught computer to the elderly and did that very well. He will be missed.

I was very saddened to read of Jack's passing. I saw him in mass just a week ago Sunday. My deepest sympathies.
