Ernest Madigan Obituary

MADIGAN, ERNEST, 85, of Norfolk Avenue, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at home. He was the beloved husband of Muriel A. (Bibby) Madigan for 53 years.

A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Thomas and Ann E. (Warburton) Madigan. Ernie was a World War II US Army veteran, he served as a Technical Sergeant with the 296th Engineer Combat Battalion. He was an office clerk at Slater Dye Companies for 47 years until retiring in 1993.

He was a 50 year member of E.L. Freeman Lodge No. 41 Freemasons, (now Jenks Lodge No. 24) Pawtucket; Honorary member of the Eastern Star Lodge, Rehoboth; member of the Masonic Veterans; Past Patron of Seekonk Chapter No. 209 Order of Eastern Star; member of Hope Chapter No. 41, Attleboro; Past Dad Advisor of Woonsocket-Cumberland Assembly No. 13 Order of Rainbow for Girls and member of the Grand Cross of Color. Ernie was a lifelong member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Pawtucket, he served as Crucifer and Acolyte for over 70 years. An avid baseball fan, he was a season ticket holder with the Pawtucket Red Sox for the past 15 years.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Judith Gepford of Cincinnati, Ohio and Cynthia Keniston of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Michael, Daniel and Katherine Gepford of Ohio and William and Alexander Keniston of Cumberland and a sister, Dorothy Sutton of Cranston. He was the brother of the late Thomas Madigan and Ann Marsland.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
