Andrew Vanti Obituary

VANTI, ANDREW R., 77 of East Washington St. and formerly of Pawtucket died Sunday at the Miriam Hospital, Providence. Retired Operation Manager for Dupuis Oil of Pawtucket and Marvel-DeBross Oil of Taunton, MA.

Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Jean Vanti Sr. and Mary (Ritronato) Vanti.

Mr. Vanti was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He held membership in the American Legion for over 56 years and was an active member of the Sherman-LeClerc-Monteiro Post 86 of Cumberland. On the State level in 1963 he was the youngest Commander elected to that post, and served as a National Officer in 1990. He was the State Finance Chairman and President of the Convention Corp of the RI American Legion at the time of his death. Andy was Past President of the RI Chapter of the Natl. Assoc. of Oil Heating Service Managers from 1986-1987. He also served as Natl. Secretary and Past Natl. President from 1986-1996. Andy has been credited with establishing an open relationship between the Natl. Assoc. of Heating Oil Service Managers and the New England Fuel Institute to establish the now National Oil Research Alliance. In 1999 Andy was presented the Hugh McKee award, the highest achievement, from the National Oil Heating Service Managers.

Surviving are two sons; Andrew Vanti of Pelham, NH and Anthony Vanti of East Longmeadow MA. The Love of His Life, Gail Jannerelli of North Attleboro, and his treasured Hymalian Cat Alexander. One brother Jean Vanti Jr. of Pawtucket, and two sisters Virginia Demers of Cumberland and Rosalie Locke of Sagamore Beach, MA. Two Grandsons and two granddaughters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00am in St. Joseph's Church, Walcott Street, Pawtucket, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Newell Burying Ground, Attleboro. MA.
