Wayne Brown Obituary

BROWN, WAYNE D., age 63, of 2 Pawtucket Avenue, Bristol, a 32 year member of the Bristol Fire Department, died Monday, November 3, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, after being stricken at his home while responding to a vehicle fire call.

Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Frank R. and Elinor (Marsh) Brown. Mr. Brown was a Tax Assessor for Central Falls for the past 4 years. He previously was the Tax Assessor in Bristol during the 1980's and for Warren from 1992-2002. A graduate of Tollman High School, Pawtucket, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in 1967 from Rhode Island College. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict as a Medic. Mr. Brown was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Bristol, a 32 year member of the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department he was a member of the Hydraulion Engine and Hose Co., No. 1, a former Captain of the Bristol Rescue Squad and a current member of the Bristol Fire Police. He was a member and a past president of the Cup Defenders Association, a 31 year member of St. Alban's Lodge #6 F. and A.M., he was an avid Reader and a Professional Tennis, Red Sox and NE Patriots Fan. He is survived by a brother, Jeffrey S. Brown and his wife, Debbie J. of Lincoln, a nephew, Dan Brown of Lincoln, two nieces, Christine DeSesa of Rochester, NH and Erica Maniotis of Dover, NH and an aunt, Terri Palana of Rumford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Requiem Eucharist Service Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 10:00 AM in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol. Burial will be private. Visiting hours Friday, 4:00-8:00 PM in the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, P.O. Ruth and I were sorry to receive word of Wayne's passing, Jeff. You and I would be second cousins, but I haven't seen you or Wayne since you were little kids. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To the Brown Family, my deepest sypmathies with the loss of Wayne. I served with him on Bristol Rescue and socialized with other freinds, many clam boils,steak feeds and good times. May he rest in peace.
