Carmine Henry Imondi

IMONDI, CARMINE HENRY 'HANK', 87, departed this life November 3, 2008 at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida after a prolonged period with Alzheimer's disease.

Born in Providence on November 12, 1920 to the late Angelo Imondi and Vincenza (Mancini) Imondi, he was the oldest son of eleven children.

He was an Air Medal recipient of the 529th Bomb Squadron of the Army Air Corps during WW II and flew 33 missions in the Pacific Theater. A graduate of North Providence High School, he was also educated in accounting at Johnson & Wales University. He worked most of his life in the lighting business first with Sears Roebuck and later with his own business, Hi-Lites, in Johnston. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Cranston where he married Rita Cestrone on July 14, 1947. They retired to Naples, Florida in 2001.

Hank was a man of a firm handshake, compassionate spirit, and playful demeanor. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be dearly remembered by his devoted family, including Rita, his wife of 61 years; his daughter Cynthia Mitchell and husband Bob of Naples, Florida and sons Ronald Imondi and wife Carole of South Pasadena, Florida and Charles Imondi of Panama City, Florida; his grandchildren Tara and Chris Lautieri of Johnston, R.I., Tiffany Imondi of Providence and Charles Imondi II of Cranston; great grandchildren Nina Lautieri and Devin Imondi, as well as his siblings, Ann Blackwood, Joseph (deceased), Albert, John, Mary Kusmierz, Evelyn Grindley, Angelo Paul, Richard and William; and in-laws, Mrs. Mary Criscione and Dr. and Mrs Quentin Turtle all of Cranston.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from 'WOODLAWN' Funeral Home, 600 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery.
