Lawrence Campion Obituary

CAMPION, LAWRENCE, SR., 81, a long time resident of East Greenwich passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 11, 2008, at Scalabrini Villa. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose E. (Fogarty) Campion.

Born in New Castle on Tyne, England, he was a son of the late Edward and Lillian P. (Bulford) Campion.

Mr. Campion was a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service out of Cranston. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus, former St. Joseph Council #15, the National Association of Letter Carriers, East Greenwich American Legion, Post #15 and Disabled American Veterans.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children Lawrence Campion, Jr. and wife Marie, Patrick E. Campion and wife Lois and Kathleen A. Wheeler and husband, Robert; brothers, Edward and John A. Campion; grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Campion, Dr. Claudia Wheeler, Michael Campion, Kathleen Cotnoir, Robert Wheeler, Jr., Amanda and Gabrielle Campion and Allison Campion; a great granddaughter, Madison Rose Cotnoir and his awaited great grandson, Riley Wheeler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:00am in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Ave., E. Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours Thursday, 5-8pm, at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., E. Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
