John Gromlich Obituary

GROMLICH, JOHN W. JR., age 49 of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida passed away on November 8, 2008.

John was born in Scranton Pennsylvania on April 23, 1959 and lived in North Kingstown Rhode Island from 1971 to 2003.

He then moved with parents to Santa Rosa Beach Florida. John was a graduate of North Kingstown High School class of 1977 and went on to get his teaching degree from the University of Rhode Island.

He was a well-known figure around North Kingstown and had been employed by the town's recreation department. He went on to teach at the Community College of Rhode Island and had to stop working due to permanent disability in 1998. He was later diagnosed with Mitochondrial Myopathy which affected his hearing and vision and coordination. He had been living in a nursing home since 2005.

John is survived by his brother Peter Gromlich, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, his aunt Margaret Gromlich of Ogunquit, Maine, and a cousin Edward Habib of Austin Texas.

The family will have services at a later date.

John help Al Southwick coach my WMS baseball team. He was a kind human being who worked hard. I liked him and was sad to hear if his passing. RIP Johnny Grom

I was saddened to hear of the extended disability and passing of "Johnny Grom". I was also NKHS '77, and we played baseball together in Babe Ruth and in high school. I lost touch with John when we graduated, but I remember him as a good guy. I offer my profound condolences to his family.
