Not everyday do you get the chance to know someone as caring and loving to our children as Carol Bowen was to all of ours. She shared with each and every child her love for life, God, and family. During her time at St. Joseph's school as our librarian, she ran a book club after school. Every week, she made sure that they all had a drink and a snack that she provided. These children all grew to love her like she was their grandmother. I looked around the church at her funeral mass and saw the tears pouring from many children's eyes and I shared in their pain. She will truly be missed by all but I know that God will take care of her know like she took care of everyone while she was here.

Paul and Carol invited my husband and I for an overnight on their sailboat. We had only just met them, but they welcomed us as long-time friends. We bought a sailboat just like their's and enjoyed cruising with them for several years. I'll always remember Carol's smile.

I never personally had Mrs. Bowen as a principal at St. Francis School (since I had long since graduated from the school) but as an active parishioner/volunteer I had the privelage to know her for the caring person she was when it came to the academic environment. She made a difference at St. Francis School by beginning some extra cirricular activities and working hard to keep the school running. She was also aware of the "school population" and also worked very hard to keep up the enrollment (since the parish and school are small).
But she loved the children, loved people, and also had tremendous faith when it came to God and her Catholic Faith! Now her journey here on earth has come to an end. No more suffering, no more tears, and no more fears or sadness. God has called her home to enjoy his presence for all of eternity. She may be gone from us but she will not be forgotten. She has touched our lives and we will all miss her presence.
"Thank You Mrs. Bowen for all that you have done for us and all the contributions seen and unseen. May God bless you, O faithful servant of God, and may you now be accepted into God's merciful love in his infinate glory. May you rest in peace. AMEN."

Carol,
I remember being a part of your 4th grade class with you and the late Mrs Burgess I have to say out of all the grades and schools I went to it was the 4th grade class at St Kevins school that I cherish the most. We had the best spelling B's. I am glad my Mother ( Donna Walsh) was a part of your life and Paul's life. My Mom loved you and still loves you dearly. You are forever in our hearts. Love to you and yours

I was a teacher of Carol's at St. Francis School. She gave me a change because she knew I was willing to learn. It was always a pleasure to be in her company especially at work. To hear her voice over the morning announcements made it a warm and caring environment. After she retired we kept in touch. She always had good advice and your best interest at heart. Carol is one of three people I have to thank for my career in teaching. She believed in me even when I wasn't sure I could do it. Now I'm working on getting my Masters in Reading which she was also able to be a part of this summer. Thank you Carol for everything. Being a great principal and a true friend. You will be missed.
